Frequently Asked Questions About the Atomic Gym in South Austin

Hell yea!

Atomic Athlete is fully inclusive, with our experienced female coaches on staff who love training bad-ass women like you. Trying something new can be intimidating, but you’ll find plenty of support and encouragement here.

In our programs, we regularly use dumbbells, kettlebells and barbells. Here at Atomic, we use an athlete-driven approach. YOU get to decide whether to lift heavy and get big, or lift light for tone, resilience, and mobility.

Our group sessions last an hour and start with a coach-led, session-specific warm-up. Once the warm up is complete, the Coach will explain the workout’s purpose, detailing its purpose, progression, and proper form. Throughout the session, our coaches actively give encouragement, instruction, and correction. Afterward, stay awhile for some extra stretching, foam rolling, or take a cold plunge if that’s your thing!

Must-Haves: Training clothes, shoes, water bottle

Nice-to-Haves: Sweat towel, lifting shoes, weight belt, clean trunks/towel for the plunge, and toiletries if you plan to shower after the session

Out-of-town athletes are always welcome for a $25 drop-in fee. Arrive ~10 minutes early for a quick check-in and overview. Drop in athletes get access to all our amenities: cold plunge, showers, and co-working space. No registration needed—just show up ready to sweat! We can’t wait to see you in the gym!

Short answer? It depends!

Generally, we recommend you train at least 3 days a week, schedule allowing. Most of our regulars train 5 days a week at our gym in South Austin. Our coaches will be happy to talk through a schedule that fits your lifestyle and goals.

Structured Programs:

Our 4-6 week programs have a specific focus. Each session builds on the last with our coached progressive sessions, 5 days a week.

Your Body, Your Call:

We guide, but you get to decide. We don’t force any movement or weights that may feel uncomfortable. We can (almost always) substitute equipment or exercise based on how you’re feeling and what you’re capable of on any given day. You know what your body needs and we are here to support that. 

Support > Competition:

Our vibe is supportive, not cutthroat. You’ll push hard, but the goal is  growth, not beating the person next to you.

You bet your ass! You’ll train alongside a diverse crew—from complete beginners to seasoned athletes. At Atomic, it’s about testing your limits both physically and mentally, and we’re all better when we tackle the hard stuff together. No matter where you’re starting from, you’ll find a place here.
