After years of attending seminars and accruing certifications we simply could not find a credential system that trained and certified potential coaches to our standards. In 2015 we created our own certification process that has 5 components we feel are critical to be a successful Atomic Athlete coach.
ATTEND A COACHING SEMINAR
Candidates must attend one of our seminars where they will learn the fundamental concepts of exercise science, programming, and exercise instruction.
PASS THE COACHING TEST:
Coaching is an art. Candidates must be able to run groups of athletes through complex training sessions while having the ability to clearly communicate expectations and instructions. They must be able to provide exercise substitutions, and scale training sessions appropriately. The Coaching Test is a progressive series of evaluations over 15 training sessions.
Exercise instruction is one of the critical skills that all coaches must have. Candidates must be able to correctly teach, coach, and correct all of the foundational barbell lifts along with primary supplemental exercises.
Candidates must score a 90% or higher on our written test. This test covers energy system development, adaptation theory, exercise science, and programming. The cut-off time for this assessment is 90 minutes.
We believe that coaches should lead from the front not only in knowledge, but physical ability. Each coach must pass our rigorous physical assessment below.
